Having made a lot of hard-surface transportation-related models like aircraft, ships, and cars, I decided to model a steam locomotive. While there are plenty of such models being made, I decided to go with a steam engine from the 1850s nicknamed the McConnell “Bloomer”. The origins of the name seem to vary based on the source, but it looked complex and interesting to try and model! I then created a scene that would show off the model (I might have failed at that with all the smoke in the scene!).
