I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. While I have started to like Blender - after having failed in doing that for almost as long a time as Bart has succeeded in doing so - I would really, really love it if Blender people didn't pretend to "invent the rounded wheel" over and over again when all they do is implement features other tools have provided for quite some time, sometimes quite long some times.
Yes, getting a boost-up on animation is a cool thing and I like it!
As for its benefits: It depends. Not everything that "looks ugly" on a split-second screencap IS ugly. Not everything that looks pretty is "better". Animation is NOT "easy" - if by "animation" you don't restrict yourself to extremely over-simplified ... erm ... well, animations. There are differences between repetitive ("looped") over-smoothed BORING walk cycles and ... ANIMATIONS. With detail, with derails, with edginess and personality.

Anyway: Nice to see improvements coming. Maybe ... not overdo the self-praise?
