The April edition of the blender.org gallery is now online. This is quite a historic moment - I have actually cleared my gallery backlog :)
I also noticed that I have now been maintaining this gallery for exactly two years, and I have started brooding on a way to prepare a 'Best of two years of Blender art' election. More news about this will follow soon, but if you have any suggestions on how to do this, I'm all ears!

Thanks for the update! I hardly ever check the gallery now as it seems to get updated at very infrequent intervals.
Nice to see Nick Towers has a new entry, he's a personal fave of mine.
Hey there Bart,
It's Mal here ( one of the two Irish guys who worked at NaN in the good ol' days ). It's great to hear that you have that back-log cleared, some of the Blender artwork is awesome!
I've recently put up a prize for a Blender GE competition for an art gallery builder we recently built, and when I saw this news, I thought I'd put together a quick virtual exhibition of this gallery also.
Here's the link ( PC and Mac, *NIX if you have the CrossOver plugin )

( full-screen version is at http://www.candointeractive.com/art/gallery/blender_art2/indexFullScreen.htm )
Click on an image, then click and drag to rotate it. Also, hold down your button for a few seconds without moving ( or press SPACE ) to zoom in.
Regards...

Very nice, love the "old house" picture.
Please let us middle click the links to open the pictures in a new tab also (just fill in the href and include return false; at the end of the onclick handler)
You could run a poll on Blender.org or BlenderNations instead of on the forums (although make sure you make a post about it in BlenderArtists Forums). Perhaps take the top x% (10 or 5 I would figure) out of the total gallery submissions that exist and then hold a poll with those to narrow them down, and then a final round to determine the best submissions for the round-up.
Also, a side note, it'd be neat to learn a little more about the author and their production process via extra info that could show up around the pop-up with the image (quite similar to 3DTotal).
Excellent to hear that you've cleared out the back up of images! :)
@Matthew: this is an issue that is on our todo list for the blender.org redesign.
There is some quite nice work there. The bee is simply amazing.
Personally i did not think that these renderings stood up to the high expectations set by earlier models.
