As a kid, I loved autostereograms - especially the cross-eyed 'noise' versions. In this tutorial, Pastorross presents an interesting different approach to generating them using Blender!
I have loved playing around with Blender for many years, now. I am now 68 years old and still learning new things.
Last September BlenderNation featured an article and an add-on about the Magic Eye effect or AutoStereograms. On seeing this I purchased the Magic Eye Maker Add-on. I was fascinated by the hidden images I was able to create.
It got me thinking if there was another way to go about creating "magic eye" stereograms using Blender. I wanted to see if you could create a realistic scene and still get the 3D effect, an AutoStereogram that you didn’t have to use special equipment like a Stereoscope or special glasses to see. All on Blender.
And I was able to do just that, and surprisingly very simply, although it took me a long time to work out what I was doing to get it right. And I was even able to create some animated AutoStereo videos.
