'Blender for NPR artists' with Andres Stephens - Subsurface Talks podcast #4

Hi there Blenderheads!

Non-Photoreal-Rendering (NPR) is so hot right now! That is why this episode of Subsurface Talks is dedicated in large part to this topic.

The guest is Andres Stephens (aka Draise) from Colombia - an experienced 3d generalist and open minded visual development experimentator that uses Blender to achieve amazing painterly animations and renders.

Andres is also a developer involved in one of the most intriguing forks of Blender - Bforartists.
In the episode Draise tries to explain the main ideas and principles behind this project. Can Blender's UI be more userfriendly and easier to learn ? The creators of Bforartists don't sit and complain but rather take Blender into their hands and show how they want it to look like and be used. Whether you agree with this or not - this is not something to just ignore :)

You can find out more about all these topics by listening to the podcast:

Happy listening and happy blending !

  1. One of the best sources of Blender NPR information was the BNPR channel on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@super-bnpr

It deserved a much bigger audience and ended when one of the showrunners Dan passed away, but their 39 episodes are still on Youtube and magnificent and still very useful.

  2. Sounds interesting! I'll check out the podcast for insights on how Blender caters to NPR (Non-Photorealistic Rendering) artists. Thanks for sharing!
