Blender tutorials come in all shapes and sizes: videos, blogs, live workshops and books. Jan van den Hemel may be a familiar name to you, as he has been creating a large range of short Daily Blender Tips videos for quite a while now. Jan also created three volumes of Blender Secrets: books filled with useful Blender tips.
The Blender Secrets series of books are linked to the Blender Secrets site, where the tips are frequently served as new posts. But the books offer an extensive collection of Jan's numerous tips.
The books come as PDF files with a minimalistic, no-nonsense layout, focused on clarity and easy reading. Each book contains 110 step-by-step Blender tips, mostly short tricks. Some tips are a bit more elaborate, but there are no longreads.
Some pages from Blender Secrets
Each tip in the PDF pages conveniently includes a link to Jan's video showing the tip on YouTube. The tips deal with just about every area of Blender, including modeling, materials, lighting, rendering, rigging, animation, camera matching, you name it.
The Blender Secrets books are particularly informative for Blender beginners, but even seasoned Blender users will undoubtedly discover some new techniques. With Blender's rapid development pace, some of the tips might have been superseded by new ways of achieving the same result, but if that's the case it's always useful to know an alternative method.
