Are you a fan of POV-Ray & co. ? Are you bored by the thousands of settings available in the POVAnim script?
Then you'll be interested in taking a look at Blend2POV for sure.
Blend2POV will render your Scene in any POV-derived raytracer using Yafray's xml output as a base; this means that any option available in Blender's GUI for Yafray will be exported along with materials and animation data. The script is available for both Windows and Linux (don't know if it'll work on a Mac) and an installation guide is available on BlenderWiki.
Actually RCRuiz (Blender2POV's author) is working on version 0.0.4 (available as a beta at the time of writing), this new version will sport a (faster and cleaner) C port of the code and strands support. A tutorial is being worked on, check the Elysiun topic for updates.

So lovely! I wasn't aware that RCRuiz attempts went so far! I have experience in only three 3D packages: Blender since v1.68, POV-Ray since 3.1 and more recently Art of Illusion (http://www.artofillusion.org) since 2.0, and I'm deeply in love with the three of them, and I'm really glad that someone develops some robust connectivity vetween Blender and POV-Ray. Not that I feel it is really needed (I think the internal renderer is awesome in its actual state) but surely it's a golden dream of mine!
Way to go RCRuiz!
Hello,
Blend2Pov are good news, but i think is not polite tu qualify PovAnim simply boring.
PovAnim is a tool, and it has a author which don't like to hear something like this about his work. Your are also free to not use PovAnim. Simply model directly in PovRay XD.
I'm not the author, but i respect jms a lot, because his dedication to develop "math tools" for blender. The jms's scripts are slightly rough for a newbie, but i'm sure that most of them have helped to current programmers of new blender features.
Sorry for my english, but please, pay attention to BlenderNation words also!

Well, I think jms will understand what I really meant for sure. Never wanted to address his work as "boring", it was only an informal way to recall users' attention on Blend2POV's strongness: render animations with POVRay with almost no options to set, aka simplicity.
"Your are also free to not use PovAnim", well now there's another option, to use Blend2POV, was what the above article was all about.
Enjoy ;-)
Errrrr, sometimes my English sucks too... XD
Currently this script is NOT available for Linux and the one available DOES NOT work under Linux. Very unfortunate I must say.
Linux support has been fixed in the current version (0.0.5D), Enjoy :-)
