A few days ago, Andreas Esau released an add-on dedicated to 2d animation in Blender. And it’s awesome! As far as I know, this is the only open source tool of its kind that’s about feature complete for 2d game animation. Because of that, I decided to make a video about it, to show what the plugin has in store for you.

thank you! I really need it!
Just to add a bit. In krita you can export to PSD files while maintaining layes, and also you can export each layer individually as image file, so if you are very ordered you can still use it
Yup, but it's really a pain to setup the sprites without an automatic export. Andreas was looking at the ORA (open raster) format, which is supported by gimp and Krita - it retains all of the document's information, but it could be parsed in blender. Now, it's not easy to do, and as the Krita devs are finishing their Spriter exporter right now, it might be possible to make a variation for the COA tools. Or we could imagine an importer for the Spriter format in Blender. For now, wait and see :) !
about blender and .ora, it reminds me a thread on blenderartists talking about layers and multilayers formats and textures, that could be interesting for the import/export part :

i don't know if i understand well, what would be the point of a spriter>blender importer? being able to export from krita, at the cost of an extra intermediary step? (this is not complaining, i know developing tools can be a lot of work, it's just for understanding)
Wooowwww!! There was no equal in Blender !! Thanks so much for sharing it !! :)
you should have made money out of it on Gumroad for exemple . Many people who really need it would donate for it because it 's an awsome tool!!
amazing tool.
I've seen spine lately and found it super nice and seeing such a tool in blender is like christmas.
+1 to a gumroad donation option. Making this free is awesome but I would give a few bucks for sure for such a great tool.
Please forward the comments it to Andrea
Forwarding that to Andreas straight away ;)
If only we had this 2 years ago

wow!! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!, a wonderful tool, no need for after effects puppet pin tool right now, just, THANK YOUUU!!! long live opensource!!!!
Are there plans for unity + coa integration?
I hope so. It would go a long way towards building a free asset pipeline. I'm not even sure why the creator prefers Godot, Unity is far more common. Hadn't even heard of it before watching his videos on this plug-in.
I don't think developing stuff for only most common softwares would be a good thing, Godot may not be as popular as unity, it has some pretty solid possibilities, so it's cool some people help it grow
If there was unity integration I would buy it from gumroad for sure.
hi i using the blender not work in cut out add ons help me guys
