This year's Blender Google Summer of Code projects have been announced, with five slots having been granted for Blender! Blender's acceptance into Google Summer of Code 2022 marks the 17th time Blender has participated in this program since it began in 2005.

The next couple of weeks are a "Community Bonding" period where participants flesh out their proposals and get acquainted with the community and the contribution process, and coding in earnest begins on the 29th of May until the beginning of September.
The accepted projects are:
- Flamenco Improvements
- VSE Waveform Drawing Performance
- UV Editor Improvements
- Shader Editor Node Preview
- Outliner Tree Refactoring
