A stray puppy gets rescued from the street by a little girl and goes through a crucible to be reunited with her, many years later, after they get forcibly separated.
A hybrid 2D/3D Animated short film, Supertramp draws inspiration from several television series and feature films: Lady and the Tramp (1955), Oliver & Company (1988) and The Dragon Prince (2018-present), are just some of the brilliant projects we want to pay a tribute to.
Style-wise, our short film is created using 3D and 2D animations. Backgrounds are done by a mix of 3D-modeling and hand-painting. Everything else (except the final comp), was done with Blender.
We're proud to have among our ranks a super talented Animation Supervisor, Marco La Torre, whose work, leading the animation department, has been nothing short of amazing. Marco's experience in the animation field is second to none, having been involved in multi-million dollar film productions such as Avengers: Endgame, Spider-man: Homecoming, The secret life of pets.
I'm the Lead animator of the team. I also did the rigs and I took care of all the techical aspects in Blender.
Last but not least, Fabrizio Gammardella, the crazy Director who embarked on this journey without the faintest idea of what he was getting himself into! Being a multi-award winning animation director didn't help at all. Each new project is different from the previous one, posing different challenges and presenting you with decisions upon decisions which ultimately change the course of the entire production.
We’ve been working on the project for the past 3 years and we are very close to get it done. Unfortunately without your help Supertramp might never see the light.
