Video: Bunny in a Bunny Suit

1

Isaac Huerta created this music video to a song by Simone White as a challenge to himself. He talks about the creation process and shares a breakdown.

I started using Blender when I was like 14 or 15 years old (right now I’m 22) and I immediately fell in love with it. I studied Blender for like a year or so in a small design school near my house, and after that I continued to learn by myself (with tutorials and all that). I just finished my bachelor’s degree in Digital Arts and I basically used Blender in all of my projects.

I made this project mainly because I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could create on my own something that had the quality (both in the technical and the storytelling aspect) of something I would usually enjoy watching on TV, the internet or even in the cinema; Of course this short film isn't like Pixar quality or something like that, but I’m very happy with how it turned out. Also at that time I discovered Simone White and her music and I was a bit obsessed with it. The song that inspired this short film really resonated with me, so I wanted to have a little bit of catharsis of what I felt at the time by doing this short film.

The most important challenges I faced doing this was mainly the time I had for doing it, because I used this short film to apply for a scholarship to study in Canada, and the deadline for applying left me like a little bit more than 2 months to do this project. In the technical aspect, the things with which I struggled the most were all the simulations, especially the wet hair. But I learned a lot and I had a great time doing all of them.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
